Its hard, but I try to be strong. I have a baby to raise. Denise lives alone in a duplex with her 9 month old grandson. She had 4 kids: 3 daughters and 1 son. Two of the daughters have moved away and are doing well. The momma of the grandson is out there. Denises son died in a house fire a couple years ago. It was the EPB bill that brought her back to MetMin. Denise hadnt needed our services in at least 4 years. Ive learned to manage my bills, and now this. This is a mess. Denise has been disabled for 12 years and has relied on her disability income to survive. Last month, though, someone hacked into her account and wiped out the $571 balance. There is a bank investigation under way, but that investigation sure doesnt pay her EPB bill. Denise dreams that one day shell be able to earn her GED. For now, though, all her attention is given to caring for her grandson. That baby had no diapers. We took care of that. (Thanks, Grace Episcopal Church!) Denises electricity will stay on. We took care of that, too. It was hard to tell what was going on with her rent. Are Denise and the baby living in a condemned house? She has an appointment with a MetMin attorney next week to check on that issue and the bank investigation. Thanks, Wanda Janeway, for your kind and perceptive helpfulness with Denise. You made all Denises issues manageable for her. Denise arrived hopeless and left MetMin hopeful. Way to go, Wanda. YOU MATTER. Heres what Denise wanted all of you to remember: Dont ever say you cant make it. If you stay strong you can always make it. So stay strong.
