Its hilarious that when I tell people that I am a Libertarian, the response is always pretty much, Well as a black man you should love the government because without it you would still be in slavery or living under Jim Crow. I kid you not. I then tell them that on the other hand though, Jim Crow and other discriminatory laws along with slavery where also instituted and enforced by the government, so whats your point? The government didnt give me the right to my life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. Their job is to protect those rights from being infringed by others and even the government itself.
