Its never easy to say goodbye to someone who impacted your life. As I start getting ready I cant help but think about how hard that simple task really is, because in a sense can one ever be ready to say goodbye? Im going through the motions but am so confused and the concept of goodbye is lost on me today. I dont know how to be- normally my focus is on helping and supporting others in their times of distress but today I dont know how to be anything for anyone. Today I am sullen, I feel an empty place within myself as a chapter in my story comes to an unfinished close. I know life will continue, still holding countless joyous moments- but today Im allowed to be sad. Today Im mourning the loss off someone dear- remembering the laughs we shared, the music we listened to, the things he taught me, stories he told, the kindness he extended to me and my children because thats just who he was- Im processing that I will never see him smile again, hear his laugh and sarcasm, or marvel at his ridiculous collection of, well, EVERYTHING- ever again.
