Its not the tools, but what you do with them. This saying is what I kept thinking of after watching Guardians of the Galaxy Thursday night. With the prevalence of super hero films, and Marvel studios rise to power in Hollywood many have wondered if its possible to create films that can adhere to formula, entertain wide demographics, all while still displaying a unique directorial vision. James Gunns Guardians of the Galaxy does just this. Perhaps it was fitting I saw it Thursday night as the film felt like a throwback (not just because of its soundtrack) to many of the movies I saw as a kid with my family. Films that I now lovingly call Roberts brothers classics!
