But no bruin garnered more attention then Clarion County “Bucket Bear.” The 100-pound animal was frequently spotted in the Perry Township. Each time, it was wearing what appeared to be a bucket on its head. During Labor Day weekend, Sligo couple Dean Hornberger and Samantha Eigenbrod decided to do something about it and tracked down the young bear. With the help of three strangers, Shawn Balcita, Eric Kribel and Kaitlyn Lakin, the do-gooders were able to wrestle the bear to the ground and remove the plastic ring from its neck. The moniker Bucket Bear stuck longer than the ring around its neck, which turned out to be a part from an automobile airbag.
