Its sad to me that some of my closest friends still dont do - TopicsExpress

Its sad to me that some of my closest friends still dont do Facebook. They dont get it. When I talk to them, their perception is that it seems like a useless waste of time. However, like all things, that simply depends how you use it. If you are simply going to be on FB messaging and watching Worldstar videos, then I can see how you would quickly arrive at that conclusion. I, myself, find it an invaluable asset to my world. The amount of information I can process in such a short period of time still astounds me. As a visual person I find no better way to assimilate information. One moment I am watching the most amazingly creative video, and then with a mere click I can pass it on to share with friends; and the next moment I can be watching the most gut-wrenching cruel act done by some piece of shit which infuriates me, that I never pass on. And the spectrum in-between that takes me all around the world and connects me into peoples lives continues to fascinate me daily. Anyone who travels will tell you that doing so changes his or her perspective on life. Well, I can travel the globe in a compacted time span with no limits, and doing so, daily, has certainly shaped many perspectives. It is not simply the Internet, but Facebook itself, in that focusing on the things that interest me allow me a massive laser by which to dissect it all. It sharpens my standards and broadens my vision in every facet of my life. Technology itself is moving along at astounding rate; and before the Net I used to keep up via magazines, traveling around the city with a backpack full of mags on movies and tech. Now, in a fraction of the time, I can assimilate all that info while being highly entertained through informative videos. Fascinating. And its virtually impossible to miss anything since my like-minded friends on Facebook have shared the latest with me. When I walk into a room, regardless of the other guys resume who has worked on this major thing or that, as soon as he opens his mouth, I can tell he is not on the cusp of technology. In fact, according to my speed, he is not even current. His ideas are played out because his creativity is based on old info. Of course in his mind, and to those of lesser knowledge around the table, he is spouting something valuable; but to me, hes weak. An hour on Facebook would be more valuable that an hour working with him. So to my dear friends who wont see this because they are not on Facebook, I feel sorry for them. I make no arguments to them in person because it is not my style to try to convince anyone. I merely attempt to share and the rest is on them. Besides, why would I waste my valuable time on that. I have Facebook notifications to get to. And yes, including those animal videos. Growing up, one had to pay thousands of dollars to travel to a real safari, and you would spend hours hoping to see just a glimpse of a real lion. If, while you were watching that, some chihuahua dog came out of nowhere and walked up to the lion and started sharing licks on the mouth with it, you would be STUNNED!!! You would spend the rest of the year telling people of that amazing vision on your last safari trip. But now its available at an instant among thousands of other such fascinating videos and images. Its too bad for you if you have become jaded and high-minded and dont have the time for those stupid animal videos. You shouldnt waste your day on it. But you can take three minutes to laugh at one. Ill let you in on a personal testimony. In the past, I have always liked dogs more than cats, and I have owned both. In all the years of owning both, I have never seen even a quarter of the things I see in one compilation video. And to be honest, I like cats just as equally as I like dogs now. I like pitbull dogs too, though I was never particularly trusting of them before. And after all the countless videos I have processed over the past three few years, I can easily tell you that animals are far more inspiring, compassionate and caring than humans on any scale. Maybe you have a video that tells me different. Please share it. I look forward to it. Change my mind and you change my life... just like Facebook has.
