Its so easy to wax philosophical when one is overtired and cannot sleep and staring down the barrel of yet another very full day of blasé work.... I thought Id find some photographs of interesting pairings of our vintage friends with other people.... That tangent spilled over its borders when I realized that while I would have loved to listen to the conversation between Charlie and Einstein or Ghandi......I felt the heart strings tug when looking at him with Helen Keller..... She was seeing the same Charlie I see in my minds eye.....the Tramp with curly dark hair and big brown eyes...not some distinguished older graying gentleman in a tux.... I have also found this to be true in what I am drawn to with other greats, nearly greats and not so greats.....sure, Buster was in many films later in life, but I much prefer the genius of a younger less craggy Keaton..... Lloyd as well.... I want to see the Stooges....not the Stooges as parodies of themselves.... Ayeeee....before anyone suggests that I am dragging my heels, going kicking and screaming into my own middle age and beyond...(well dammit, Ill admit to it!), let me end this rant with a question posed by Norma Desmond...the Stars are ageless, arent they?
