Its that time where we get to look back and reflect on the last - TopicsExpress

Its that time where we get to look back and reflect on the last year. Weve had some great highlights, and some sad goodbyes as well. This year Im excited to announce that because of all the hard work of our volunteers, our generous sponsors and amazing fosters & adoptors, we were able to place 44 dogs into loving forever homes, and have 24 dogs and one cat in various foster homes!! Below are photos of everyone that found their forever in 2014. What a fun trip down memory lane to go back and find photos of these guys, reflect on their stories and smile when I think of how far some of these guys have come. From shelter throw-aways, to hoarding dogs, to medical surrenders and even a few private owner turn ins, these dogs all found refuge and love, learned to trust, and even taught us humans a trick or two along the way. Weve taken in and treated dogs with renal insufficiency, pyometra, bladder stones, mammary tumors, severe worm infestations, and flea allergies. Weve also taken in LINCOLN, who has a deformity with his front leg which we will be addressing in the new year, and of course BOYD, who wont enter foster care until 2015, but has severe KCS (dry eye) which we will look to help with asap. We were pained with the loss of our good friend Alison earlier this year, who did a lot behind the scenes for Barlees, and would always be willing to open her home to any dog in need (though was especially great with our small fluffies!). Her contributions and never ending love for dogs will never be forgotten. We were also heartbroken with the loss of our sweet bulldog Lily, who despite aggressive medical treatment was unable to beat the odds and crossed the bridge. She joins Barlees alumni Hannah, Billy, Kiko, Honey and others who are watching over us from the Rainbow Bridge (and surely having all sorts of doggie fun while waiting). We are very excited for what 2015 has in store for us. Weve certainly seen some major growth in the last few years, and are so excited to meet anyone who offers to lend a hand where needed, and that can put up with our zillion dog photos, urgent pleas, and late night posts. For those that laughed, cried, cheered and smiled along with us, we wish you the heartiest of happy new years, and hope 2015 is filled with doggie kisses, early morning cuddles and the love of a furry friend! Until there are none...rescue one!
