Its what non car people dont get, they see all cars as just a tonne and a half, maybe 2 tonnes of wires, glass, metal and rubber, thats all they see. People like you and I know, we have an unshakable belief, that cars are a living entity, you can develop a relationship with a car, and that is what non car just dont get - Jeremy Clarkson, host of Top Gear UK, while chatting to Eric Bana in filming Love The Beast. That says it better than almost anybody i have ever heard. If politicians and the general public want to see, what cars do to people like us, then they need to watch this movie, well documentry. People fear what they dont understand, and that is a big problem with society as a whole, but also see it used to target such groups, like car enthusiasts. Its not just a piece of metal, to most of us, its a living, breathing thing, that in the case of Eric Bana, has kept his group of mates together, even to this day, working on his XB Coupe. At one stage, he states From the age of 15, my coupe was our campfire. It was what we gathered around, it was the excuse to come together. If we werent driving it, we were working on it, it kept us out of trouble, and kept us in my parents garage. The garage was like a clubhouse for me and my mates, we were always out there, in our cave, our cocoon. It felt like my entire youth was spent in that garage If people would open their minds up and stop and think, we are no different to the people who go down to the local bowling club, to play lawn bowls, or the surfers who head to the local surf spots, or even those who head to a rifle range. We are ordinary, everyday people, just like them, even like a famous hollywood superstar like Eric Bana. This doco shows what a car can do to an enthusiast, and the passion that is shared among his mates, working on his pride and joy, one true love, one in which Eric Bana, still has to this very day, fully rebuilt yet again.
