It’s coming up on some forty-one years since I started chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo in the Fall of 1973. It’s been quite a ride where I have experienced my karma play out in Revelation, Ruin, and Reclamation; bringing me here with you today, still in the struggle and embracing the unknown by being prepared. My seventh CD “Addiction” is now available at itunes. https://itunes.apple/us/album/addiction/id924585546?ign-mpt=uo%3D4 This year full of special events has come like a waist high fastball. While making the transition to Los Angeles after grinding it out for six years with my beautiful, extraordinarily talented wife Margo Jemmott in the deep south of Mississippi, where we made some truly wonderful friends, while finishing two ebooks, and the development of “Music from Pictures”, in between touring with Gregg Allman. We never know what’s in store but we continue to embrace the unknown. The Fall has always been the time of change for me and as usual things picked up last November with a clinic at Bass Player Live followed by the annual trip to the Richard Davis Foundation for Young Bassist Conference at the University of Wisconsin, followed by the Milt Hinton Institute for Studio Bass at Oberlin Conservatory in Oberlin, Ohio. Had time to stretch out with a tour of Japan that included shows with the Legendary Syl Jonson & Bobby Rush; interview & recording for the October issue of Bass Player Japan and special Bass Clinics and Live shows produced by Shinji Segawa & Fumi Koyasu who to top it all off, took me two hours out of their way so I could visit my Head Temple Taisekiji at the base of Mount Fuji. After this the tempo picked up. VIP at the Warwick Bass Camp in Germany with some of the worlds greatest bass players. One night only with Aretha Franklin on the David Letterman Show in New York to promote her new release; Pre screening of “Jaco” the movie, up at Metallica HQ’s in Mill Valley, CA, and the up coming New York Bass Clinic with Chuck Rainey at Bass Player Live, in Los Angeles! I’ll be heading back to Hans Peter Wilfer at Warwick to collaborate on a ultra light weight bass. Nam Myoho Renge Kyo!
