It’s difficult to capture the leading-edge spinal research - TopicsExpress

It’s difficult to capture the leading-edge spinal research underway at Austin’s Victorian Spinal Cord Service, with projects spanning from improvements to emergency management and new surgical techniques to work that’s pushing the boundaries of rehabilitation outcomes and finding ways to smooth people’s reintegration into work and the community. We were thrilled by this fantastic piece in yesterday’s Sunday Herald Sun looking at the work of Victoria’s spinal cord injury researchers – with all the work at Austin Health very much at the centre! Huge thanks to one of our current patients, 22 year-old carpenter Steve Pekris, who became quadriplegic earlier this year when an innocent somersault on the grass ended badly. Steve has generously volunteered for many of our research trials, and also met with a Herald Sun journalist and photographer to help with – and model for - this story last week.
