Ive been DJing trance for 16 years. Ive paid my dues. This is the absolute worst mentality for an artist to have. Im sorry but having paid your dues means absolutely nothing if you arent relevant right now to a venue/promoters target demographic. Being a good DJ. Being a good producer. Having paid your dues. It doesnt mean anything if fans arent connecting with what youre doing right now. Not 15, 10, 5 or even 2 years ago. Right now. Whether or not people want to hear it, Its also about far more than just music. Its about connecting on a personal level with fans AND having the right sound for the times. Connecting with fans requires the right look, personality, mindset, vibe, etc. I dont care what genre of music you write, spin, sing or perform. smh. Ive paid my dues. Fool if you had paid your dues you wouldnt have to say it
