Ive been ask to comment on Uber and Lyft car-sharing cab services. This is an absolute assault on the taxi-driver profession and comes in the spirit of right-to-work. Being a cabbie in St. Louis is one of the few jobs in St Louis for working-class people that pays a decent wage. These services will decrease the wages of drivers. Theyre designed to serve affluent white passengers ( businessman, yuppies, hipsters, college students); but will not serve the poor and working-class populations in north city, north county, south city and other parts of the county. It will most likey find success in the trendiest affluent or transitional neighborhoods. This is yet another example of the consensus of right-wing economics in America and the decline.
