Our side on why we oppose APECO on Get it Straight with Daniel Razon The TFAA, to which SLB acts as the national secretariat, has been long engaged in the struggle against APECO because of the projects numerous anomalies such as financial irregularities (as COA reports show including notices of disallowance), violations of many laws (including IPRA, Local Government Code, etc.), and failure to bring true economic and social progress in Casiguran. In addition, APECO has already spent billions of pesos for failed projects such as the APECO runway, mariculture park, and even the multi-million administration building destroyed by typhoon Labuyo, a considerably large amount that could have been used for the development of the livelihood of the local fisherfolks, farmers, and indigenous peoples. The subcommitee on finance of the senate has already recommended the limiting of the budget for APECO (rappler/…/75534-apeco-caretaker-budget-2015-…) to a caretaker (maintenance) budget in the senate plenary for the national budget, after the call of TFAA for a zero budget allocation to the anomalous project.
