Ive been holding off on posting about potential winter weather, - TopicsExpress

Ive been holding off on posting about potential winter weather, because Im not overly excited about anything happening just yet, but models have shown me a couple things today that at least up my interest from marginal, to mild happy dance. Basically, there are two windows of potential light ice here in Alexandria. The first will come during the day Friday, and the second late Saturday, into Saturday night. I see no real threat of snow, so lets get that out of the way first. There is a layer of air several thousand feet thick that will be above freezing, and melt any flakes. We may see a little sleet at the beginning, but this mostly, if anything, a freezing rain threat. Ill fine tune my thoughts as we get closer, and if this event looks like it will pan out. My initial thoughts, are that there is a less than 50% chance of light freezing rain on Friday. Temperatures will be close to freezing, and precip looks light, so power outages are doubtful. The next round may have a bit more rain/freezing rain on Saturday and Saturday night, but the temperatures could be a few degrees warmer. These look like marginal events, and there is a very real chance that we see no ice at all. So, stay tuned to the pros, and intensely monitor your facebook feed for more whimsical, non committal forecasts from your favorite t shirt printer in northern Rapides Parish.
