Ive been on an El Chicano Pyramid of Love and Friends binge - TopicsExpress

Ive been on an El Chicano Pyramid of Love and Friends binge lately. This was their next to the last album for MCA. I feel that about halfo of the material was better suited of a country act like Freddy Fender or Johnny Rodriguez, who werE hot at the time. Something tells me that the band was peaking musically by then, but the production and material brought to them leant more to to easy listening or pop. The producer was also producing Cher at the time. Earlier they worked Hellen Reddys producer. The records that they did with Don Buday were pretty decent. For the third album they had an ace in the hole, engineer Val Garay, who worked on Linda Ronstandts seminal albums, in the eighties he became a top notch producer. What Val Garay was to experiment with many different mics that were not customarily used for what he used them for. That gave the third album a sonic boom. About Michaels theme, the strings give me the impression that there was unused string for an easy listening session, its was paid for so lets use it with El Chicano. youtu.be/bgo886r2n20
