Ive been on this story for 10 years (Hi Ted Rosell, hi Mary Catherine Moran). What I havent seen so far is a comprehensive historical explanation of how it happened, which for me (because Im a conspiracist ) would have to include some finger-pointing at the major bad guys. Dont give me the emergence quagmire complexity No one is really to blame mush. A full input-output accounting of where the money historically has come from and where it has gone, even for just one major university, would go a long way toward showing us just why the university system isnt working for undergrads, grad students, and new faculty. There are hundreds of billions of dollars involved. Where does the money go? People assure me that all that information is out there, but the authors of the interminable string of articles like this one seldom seem to be aware of it. Hyung Kyu Nam
