My work in progress is titled Loving Lord Trent, next in the series of Her Majestys Gentlemen Spies (following A Dukes Wicked Kiss): Pence stepped from the darkness. “I ain’t seen nuthin’ like tonight’s happenings, sir. You sure made short work of that warlord with that high kick of yours. Didn’t know a man could snap a body’s neck that way. Learned that in India did ye? Imagine that, one kick and—” “Enough,” Trent growled. “Who would have known he carried a weapon in his hair?” Fairfax said. Trent scowled. “I should have known.” The way An Li flipped the braid over his shoulder back in the brothel had been too deliberate. The battle-ready man hadn’t wasted a move. “Perhaps you were a bit distracted?” Fairfax drawled. Oh, yes, Trent had been distracted all right. And careless. Enough to make the confrontation one of the closest calls he’d had in his career. “Where’s Mei Ling…Lady Annanina Beaufort…or whatever the hell her name is?”
