Ive been thinking about some things lately. And one of the things - TopicsExpress

Ive been thinking about some things lately. And one of the things Ive pondered about is prayer. In the almost 2 years that Ive been out of church I have not been much of a prayer person. Growing in the catholic faith prayer consisted of Hail Marys and the Lords prayers over and over and over... And over... And over. Sometimes with some beads involved, the rosary. I also remembered praying more to Mary that to God. Hmm? As I going through my apostolic phase a few years ago. I was filled with the Holy Spirit and from that point forward for the better part of fives years prayer became more and more of reciting gibberish. And it was organized at varying times during the week depending in how the set man was being led by the spirit of God. Or the spirit of what ever was happening on the news and mainstream christian circles. I remember corporate prayer on Tuesday mornings. Wednesday evenings before bible study. Saturday afternoons. Sundays before bible study, which was before worship. And some times during worship if God was moving. Some in leadership always had to lead the prayer. With a microphone. And the same prayer and tongues would be stated and repeated until that person felt God leading then to another area that needed our prayer. The music had to be anointed. If necessary the same song would be played for the entire prayer session. Prayer usually lasted at least an hour. If you were in leadership you had to lead prayer at one time or another. Children had to remain silent. As people laid on the ground to pray they had to be covered with a cloth. If you laid on the found to pray you better not fall asleep. If you really wanted to get God to hear your prayers YELL AND SCREAM IN THE MICROPHONE. If people began clapping then you know that there was agreement in regards to that prayer and God was pleased. So up to this point in my life prayer had been a habitual behavior with religious motives and lastly all a show. Over the past two years Ive learned that true prayer is neither. In regards to prayer, I believe that the beat thing that we can do is shut up. Instead of asking over and over and over for something we should just shut up and really listen to and breakdown what it is we truly believe. In a sense, where is your faith? Who do you really see Creator God as? If you believe that you need ask over and over again to receive something from God, to get a prayer answered, arent you asking amiss? Is the truth not that you have everything that you would ever need because God is everywhere, And all knowing? In a nutshell wouldnt it be best to sit in silence, primarily because God is all knowing. He doesnt need us to telling him everything about our situations, our needs, wants and desires, or to report to Him. He knows all. Instead we need to open up to Him being in all things. And listen and see Him in all things. If you still arent at peace in prayer. Maybe youre just asking the wrong questions... Maybe your looking at God to show you the answer and He just wants you to realize that the answer has been and is already in you.
