Ive had now for many years these beautiful and powerful photographs of Scarlett OHara fully dressed in this beguiling garnet-red provocative gown; it selected by Rhett for her playing the part for Ashleys birthday party. I have them on my refrigerator door, each held in place with a magnet simply with the word BE. They have been there for years ever since someone threatened me; attempting undermining my confidence and belief in myself. NEVER AGAIN! I look at them multiple times a day, thinking of Rhett feeding her to the lions; his fully believing this would break her and embarrass her. Instead, ONCE facing the lions she very deliberately pulls back her shoulders; flaunting her partially exposed breast while stabilizing her stance, raises her face in facing off everyone eye-to-eye, and arches her eyebrows while with piercing eyes giving a look making any lions cower with tails tucked between the legs. AND, this is what BEING SCARLETT did that evening; everyone cordially but strained speaking to her WITH RESPECT; all the while with her in full control no matter how possibly embarrassed and nervous she might have been in the moment. There is something to be said for the song and saying Just One Look. This was her secret weapon no one else would dare attempt - going for broke and it worked. She slayed the lions den with this look without even drawing a drop of blood! After all, she was wearing the color of blood; quite comfortable swathed in it, all the while making the milquetoast guest squirm; Scarlett fully in control of the evening. This was now HER party! Im seeing next Wednesday the 75th anniversary showing of this legendary one-of-a-kind movie; it sponsored across the US by Turner Classic Movies. Most likely this will be the last time in my lifetime Ill ever see it on the big screen and even though I know it by heart, line for line, I am assured it will see be just as wonderful and intoxicating as the very first time I viewed it many years ago.
