Ive had the MGB home a couple of days now to get acquainted and so - TopicsExpress

Ive had the MGB home a couple of days now to get acquainted and so far so good. Its got a few nits and areas to fix but nothing serious. Its a good solid rust free canvas to begin with, which is what I wanted. For this year Im just going to fix the mechanical stuff it needs, drive it and start collecting stuff for it for the cosmetics for a later date. The car sat in a garage since 2003 without being driven, so Im going to go through the brakes, replace the clutch master and slave cylinders, belts, hoses, points. plugs etc, and get it mechanically sound. Maybe next year Ill begin some cosmetic work but for now its presentable. I have to figure out what the long term plans are. The conservator in me wants to keep it the way it is, the restorer in me wants to do a rotisserie restoration, and the hotrodder in me wants to ditch the 4 banger and put in a V8 with a 5 speed and tune the suspension and make a Cobra dancer. Im leaning towards the hotrodder as its already had an Earl Shrive 99 dollar special paint job which has to go, and the previous owner removed all the emissions junk and swapped out the twin SU Carbs for a downdraft Weber, so originality is out the window. I think a 289 or 283 with Weber DEOCs, balanced and tuned would make this little car so much fun to drive it should be illegal. Time will tell.
