Ive just read the UKIP Manifesto. So heres a precis: Id like everything in the world to be exactly the way I want it. I have no suggestions as to how this can be accomplished. I have no economic policy. I have no grasp of the potential balance between Keynesian and Monetarist theory or of the philosophy underpinning the Treaty of Rome and the entirely separate European Court, and the originally British concept of Human Rights. I just like the idea of everything fitting in with my narrow-minded vision, which I call common sense despite the fact that global politics in the 21st century are a bit more complicated than that. Instead of thinking about what would be helpful Ill ignore the lowest crime rates in recorded history and blame foreigners for the crimes that arent happening. Ill also blame the EU for the tragic fact that Im so crap at my job that someone with no skills and who doesnt speak any English does it more efficiently. And then, if I get my way, Ill have no one to blame but myself for ruining one of the wealthiest, most respected and influential nations in the world and making it a laughing stock.
