Ive made 50 trips to Cuba, and I always knew that when it was time to publish the most special photographs, Id focus on the beauty and the grace of the people and the place. For there is so much of it. In Cuba, the poorness of the economy does not mask the richness of the culture. Nor does its politics mask how a prideful and passionate people govern their lives. I love Cuba, and for me, its beauty is transcendent. I decided I had to honor the Island by publishing a book that is just as special, so I launched a Kickstarter project to help me fund it and do it right. The project is now in its final hours. Im getting there, but Im not funded yet. No funding – no book. I dont surmise that because you read this, you are my friend. But I do know we share a commonality of interest.
