Ive mentioned this before. These days, the labor of our most underpaid workers is truly worth FAR more than many of them can even believe. They believe they should remain poor so their rich bosses can get still richer. Thats sad and its wrong. It pulls all wages down and it shows how successful the past thirty-plus years of anti-labor propaganda has been in this country. After far too long, almost everybody outside Washington DC finally agrees that its time for another hike in our federal minimum wage, but start throwing numbers out and almost immediately, we hear reactionary cries of Whoa, thats too much! $15/hour: Whoa, thats too much! ...$10.50/hour: Whoa, thats too much! Quatsch! Says WHO?!? The executives who are pulling down millions or more every year. The investors who avoid work by collecting dividend checks instead. ...And the brainwashed, like the pitiable sot Robert Reich mentions here...
