Ive read several articles lately about how to obtain reference photographs. Most of the articles stressed the importance of obtaining permission from photographers before using images as a reference for a drawing, painting, sculpture, -- what have you. That is a great suggestion. We should do all that we can to acknowledge the legal rights of photographers (their rights are intertwined with our own). However, obtaining permission is not necessarily the best solution for a business-minded artist.
