Ive sat on some nice horses, fast horses, slow horses- Ive sat on some hay burners, winners, losers, & straight up problem horses. Sat up thinking at night what I was doing wrong, what they were doing wrong (which was 99% of the time my fault), have contemplated giving up on a few, making dog food out of a couple. Ive bled, Ive broken bones, ate dirt, won some, and lost a whole lot more. At the end of the day it comes down to one thing. Every single horse you sit on in your career, great or terrible, has something, if not many things to offer you. Nothing will humble you up as quick as a horse will, and nothing will also give you the satisfaction they can. They are a lot like life. You can put countless hours in & still not accomplish jack sh!t like you had planned. Other times you accomplish more than you had even hoped for... Theyre also a lot like people. The bad ones really make you appreciate the good, honest ones- and those ones are really hard to come by. Theyre like a whole life lesson rolled into one 4 legged unicorn. Magnificent animals they are, all of them! Im thankful for all the ones Ive been on, the ones Im currently working kinks out of, and my very very special one, Lucky. So glad to be riding again, finally! Not going to be so hard on myself like I was, and just ENJOY it like I used to. READY SET GO!
