Ive seen a bit too much rhetoric in the media bashing welfare recipients. Its too often done in such a way that continues to propagate the myth of the welfare mom, who pumps out more kids she cant afford for a bigger government check, or that all welfare recipients are drug abusing do nothings. That the social safety net is killing our budget and dragging us down as a country. As a welfare child who was able to eat because of welfare, as a child who had no TV, as a child who at times had no solid roof over his head, as a child with brothers being raised by a single mom who worked hard to provide for her children, but still needed assistance, I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to the people that made such a program possible and continue to fight for its existence. You give me hope for those less fortunate. To the select few that collect on the corporate welfare that far exceeds the social welfare spending in our national budget that serves the many, to those of you that can afford a private jet, to those of you that can post record profits while collecting said welfare, to those that can avoid paying for the healthcare of your employees and stick the government with the bill, to those that can collect billions in government bailout money, to those with access to trillions in no interest loans, pay your taxes. Or, at the very least, stop vilifying the less fortunate in our country until such time as you are willing to pay taxes and stop collecting welfare yourself. Thanks. Share if you agree
