Ive seen a couple articles and videos lately on people speaking out on violence and the overpopulation of the prison system. I feel that parents arent taking enough responsibility for their kids to prevent the outcome of their child/children being a product of todays society. When I was young, my parents seemed to be the strictest of all parents. I couldnt go to sleepovers if they didnt know the parents, unsupervised parties, entertain boys, watch R rated movies, and other things they felt were detrimental to my future or livelihood. I was teased and recently found out that my parents were too for being strict on my siblings and I. My parents made sacrifices to make sure they screened our activities to make sure we were educated, well-rounded, and respectful. Because of this, we have dodged peer pressure, teen pregnancies, drug use, juvenile facilities, gang activity, etc. I said all that to say that parents need to invest more time and responsibility into their children while they are young so that they wont feel the need to seek love and attention down the wrong path in society later. The real world wont think that their cute, Jordan wearing, tantrum throwing and disrespectful selves are cute. Train up a child...
