Ive seen in a couple of comments the idea of moving academies into one school or a few schools. Perhaps that could be a real solution - what if half the academies went to Marshall (easily accessible via Hwy 90 I would think for those on the west side of the district) and half went to Hightower. Then both those schools would improve, would fill empty seats, and yet there would be enough academy kids coming over that all would be happy to be there. Also combining academies into fewer schools would save on transportation costs, right? I dont have kids that age but I believe transportation is provided to the academies which are all over the place. Thoughts? And perhaps it could be more of a long-term plan where kids are grandfathered in and can finish out where they are first?
