Ive seen some people become addicted to the pain of comparing - TopicsExpress

Ive seen some people become addicted to the pain of comparing themselves to other people. They found it hard to be happy for other people. A sense of entitlement and envy bubbled up inside of them. They were only happy when something happened for them but when something happened for someone else that they thought was a better opportunity they soon forgot their own joy. Its not easy to handle these feelings. Sometimes it comes from insecurity. Sometimes it is from Depression, which requires more than just how to making yourself feel better advice. But its a moment in all our lives that we need to reflect on and figure out where those feelings are coming from so that we can get the appropriate help. Sometimes what someone else has going on for them doesnt even fit our lives, our personalities. Has that ever happened to you? You finally get something that someone else had, something youve always wanted, and are left disappointed? It doesnt quite fit or its not as exciting as you thought it would be or it is too intense, too much of what you expected. At those times I like to look at everything I do have and try to capitalize on my blessings. It also helps me realize that maybe I need to do more for other people. Its a moment where the I just gets in the way. How do you cope with feeling like your neighbor is outshining you, when you feel like nothing you have is as good as what the next person has?
