Ive taken the better half of the week reflecting and reading about others experiences on Killington last weekend. I knew I was in for a haul it being the WC course and it being my first Beast, but I only came to realize that it was the hardest physical test I have put myself through when I finally crossed the finish line. It was hard to believe that it all actually happened. I was tested so many times that day and failed as much as I succeeded. But one thing I knew I had to keep in mind was that I had to keep moving. I couldnt get caught up in listening to other peoples negative emotions or more importantly the ones in my head. I had far from a perfect race (and did over 200 BURPEES because of it) but as frustrating as that was, in the end even that was a victory. At every White belts first best test in our dojo, our Sensei always tells them, enjoy this moment, because itll be the last time youll be a white belt. Its an exciting thought to embark on a new journey, to be a beginner at something, to experience something out of your comfort zone. When we overcome those challenges, we grow into something more. Weve reset our point of reference and have grown stronger, more confident. In a lot of ways (even as an experienced ocr runner), my first Beast was a white belt experience it humbled me multiple times. But, the reality is, I couldnt even fathom the though of doing a great undertaking like that less then five years ago. I learned so much about myself and my capabilities. I train (what some people) call a lot and completing that race was the culmination of all the work I put in the past few years. It made me recognize how far Ive come and inspires the question, how far will I go? Im thankful for such an Amazing experience, blessed to be able to train everyday, and Im lucky to have so much support from my family and friends. With all that said here is to the next steps in the journey. #aroo
