Ive watched comments on the Cormorant Page get out of hand as people try to attack and defame the objectives of the HIF meeting, in response to murders in our area. Does anyone have the resolve to copy my post, as follows, to the Kormorant page, please? Hi all, I have been asked dot re-post this by Stan Bezuidenhout, so I did. Kindly note that these are not my opinions, I am not supporting his views or aligning myself with his objectives. I merely believe yo would all like to see what he sent me: Stan writes: I have watched in horror as more and more people are being murdered in Hartbeespoort - some right inside town. I have read the posts on this strain with horror and concern. For people preaching reconciliation and cooperation, there are too many very ugly and slanderous statements being made. But I will not comment on those. I am only going to comment on the issue at stake: Hartbeespoort Community Safety. I would have posted for myself, but after I highlighted flaws in the thinking of the administrator I was blocked from contributing indefinitely. I would typically not care, but the community is being mislead and misinformed and I feel the right to clarify a number of issues, as follows: The first meeting - HIF The Hartbeespoort Inhabitants Forum is a structure that has nothing to do specifically with the SAPS or the CPF. It is a structure representing the greater interests of the Hartbeespoort Community. It stands above current politics, divides and disagreements. It is a structure that was promulgated in a meeting where management and leadership was democratically elected and voted into their positions to present and promote its agenda: the Hartbeespoort Community’s interests. In response to the unacceptably high number of murders in our Community, the HIF decided to call the community together in a joint effort to discuss the situation, to explore possible options (not excluding anyone) and to see who can or could contribute in what way towards reducing this terrible carnage affecting us all. The HIF then started to send out invitations to this meeting, taking place on Wednesday 7 January at 19h00, at the NG (Dutch Reformed) Church in Schoemansville. At no time did the HIF make any effort to exclude anyone, to specifically include anyone or to promote any group, organization or individual’s agenda - only their concern for the community of Hartbeespoort. The second meeting - CPF/SAPS In the light of efforts by the HIF to call a community meeting, the SAPS/CPF (per reports on this thread) decided to turn their backs on the members of the community that would attend this meeting. Instead of seeking the very cooperation everybody speaks of in this thread, immediate efforts were launched to discredit the agenda, the motivation and the goal of the HIF meeting - even before its agenda was known or confirmed. The SAPS or the CPF would have been well placed to use this opportunity to attend and address the concerns of the very community they swore to protect and serve. Instead, they called a separate meeting (according to this strain of discussion) and endeavoured to ridicule and defame the objectives and agenda of the HIF meeting and - in so doing - everyone who would attend. Now we have two meetings, a further divide in the community, further efforts to defame and frustrate the efforts of HIF, a knee-jerk reaction to the HIF effort and a clear goal to seemingly manage and manipulate the agenda of the meeting. 3. The goals of all concerned Why would the Police and the CPF then need to turn their backs on a true community meeting (let’s wait to see what numbers attend) and seemingly refuse to even hear the concerns of the community unless it is on their own terms? The CPF has a history of exclusion, de-affiliation, frustration of processes, opposition of certain groups amid the shameless promotion of others. Many requests to meet and discuss a way forward, in cooperation between everyone concerned, have been ignored, refused or frustrated to the point of cancellation. If the goal of the CPF or the SAPS is (as it should be) designed towards community cooperation, joint goals and efforts and the fight against crime, I am still left wondering why they did not simply agree to attend the HIF meeting, which was arranged already. Instead, they preferred to “declare the HIF meeting illegal or irrelevant” inconsiderate of how many community members would attend and then opted to have a “reply meeting” where they will push their agendas. Why wait until a community meeting is called before “acting?” Why did it take the initiative of HIF to shock the SAPS and the CPF into action? Whatever the reasons, at least everyone is now acting - good for us all. I would like to implore anyone and everyone to rather attend both meetings. They are both scheduled, both have the same interest at heart and both will invariably attract a number of supporters. When you have attended both, you will be in a position to comment about what was said, what was discussed, what was proposed and what was offered or proposed. Then no one would need to guess, no one would need to predict or claim to know the agenda of the “other meeting.” For those who believe that the HIF meting will be about mud-slinging and name-calling, please attend and prove yourself right. Please come to the meeting and show us the error of our ways. I - for one - would like to see the community standing together for once. I would like to see a situation where the two meetings (even if they are held on two different dates, at different venues) come to the same conclusions. Now please let’s stop the name-calling, slander and goal-mongering and let’s just all agree that there will be two meetings. Let’s attend both. Thanks
