I’ll free Nigeria from insecurity –Buhari Former Head of State, Gen.Muhammadu Buhari The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said his administration will do everything to free Nigeria from the cycle of corruption, unemployment and insecurity. Buhari said this on Wednesday during the presidential campaign of the APC held at the Osogbo City Stadium. The rally which was billed to hold around 10a.m. did not start until around 5:45p.m. when Buhari led other chieftains of the party to the stadium. Surprisingly, the crowd refused to leave the venue despite the long hours of delay. Buhari said, “Nigeria is under the shackles of corruption, unemployment and insecurity. We are determined to break the vicious cycle.” The former military Head of State said that his administration would use agriculture and mining to address the problem of unemployment and thereby reduce crime. The presidential candidate of the leading opposition party thanked the people of the state for their dodged support for the APC, saying they showed loyalty to the party with their support for Governor Rauf Aregbesola during the August 9 governorship election in which Aregbesola defeated his major challenger in the election, Senator Iyiola Omisore, by a landslide. The National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie- Oyegun, associated the Peoples Democratic Party with bad governance, insecurity and corruption. He described Buhari as a man of courage and integrity who could see where others could not. He urged the people of Osun State and entire Nigerians, irrespective of religion and ethnic leanings, to reject the PDP at the February election. Aregbesola used the rally to react to the claim by Vice-President Namadi Sambo that the Federal Government did not owe Osun State any allocation. The governor, who described the claim as false, described the PDP as a party of “thieves.” He said it was unfortunate that the vice-president and other leaders of the PDP could make spurious claim about such an important issue because they were seeking votes. Aregbesola said, “They came here yesterday and said that they are paying allocation regularly. They are thieves! Let me tell you, we collected November allocation on December 21. We have not received December allocation now. “We will expose them because they are evil. We didn’t want to talk before because we are all in government but we will speak out now.” He said that Osun State people would continue to support the APC because the party was far better than the PDP which he said had foisted bad
