I’m Pat Buchanan, these are the 40 top hits of 2014 according to Mediabase 24/7 and we’re counting ‘em down. Landing at #16, here’s a #1 smash that was partly inspired by a popular daytime talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres show. So how did Ellen’s talk show help inspire a #1 song you ask? Well here’s the story. The woman who sing’s this song Meghan Trainor, is a huge fan of the Ellen DeGeneres show, she never misses an episode. She says that when she isn’t able to watch it, she tapes it. One day Ellen had on a guest, a model who was Photoshopped to have extra-long arms. As Meghan was watching Ellen’s interview with the model, she thought to herself, “This is getting out of control. Someone needs to say something! After watching Ellen’s talk show Meghan went directly to her recording studio and told her managers that she watched Ellen and knew exactly what type of song she wanted to write. She then sat down and wrote the lyrics of this song in less than 30 minutes. She wrote the song from her own personal experiences and struggles with body excepence while growing up. This newcomer says, “I wrote it for me, as well because Ive struggled with body image since I was very young. And, my best friend is a beautiful goddess, but shell pick on herself in the mirror. My foreheads too big, or, My shoulders go out too far ... So, if other girls can relate to the song, it makes me feel even better. Its unreal that Im kind of helping people.” And that it did. Meghan Trainor’s song became an anthem for thousands of women who have dealt with body image, and it also helped them gain confidence in themselves making them realize that their bodies are beautiful, just the way they are. And maybe in some small way, Meghan Trainor has Ellen DeGeneres to thank. Ellen’s talk show may have just played a small role in this 20-year-old’s success as a songwriter. And, that’s not all, the song Meghan was inspired to write after watching the Ellen show went platinum and it gave this newcomer originally from Massachusetts, her very first #1 on the pop chart. Finishing the year at #16, here’s Meghan Trainor with “All About That Bass”. https://youtube/watch?v=7PCkvCPvDXk
