I’m grateful “quiet time” is so important in my life today! - TopicsExpress

I’m grateful “quiet time” is so important in my life today! This morning after feeding Rocky, a good workout at the gym, a little nourishment, which is usually followed by some reading writing and quiet time; I get a phone call from a good friend in LA to see if I’m in any danger from the fires, gratefully I’m not. After catching up a bit you can hardly have a conversation without hearing about some difficulty happening in our world as many people are experiencing difficult times. A shooting in LA, fires in Colorado and scandals and political bashing galore. Whether I turn on the TV, jump on the internet or just catch up with an old friend once I’m aware of an incident, I find it unhealthy to rehash it 64, 000 times so I politely try to steer conversation in a different direction or not participate at all. So in the midst of this busy morning my inner voice is saying, excuse me it’s time for quiet time, of course my head says, I’ll be with you in a minute. After one or two other unscheduled interruptions I begin to feel a little anxiety as I don’t feel I now have time to complete my morning routine. This morning I’m happy that I choose to sit quietly for 12 minutes and complete my morning quiet time, it left me centered and refreshed and in a much better frame of mind to enjoy this beautiful day. If there is something I can do about the difficulties I experience or hear about, I will by the contributing of my time and resources or casting my vote on election day after educating myself to the facts the best I can; but I don’t choose to participate in the drama of it all. So today I will direct my attention to my responsibilities and sidestep the emotional booby traps best I can. I wish you an absolute wonderful day, unless you have other plans.
