I’m one of the biggest advocates of Facebook, and even I’ll - TopicsExpress

I’m one of the biggest advocates of Facebook, and even I’ll admit that one of my biggest annoyances on Facebook users who share every single checkin. No one really cares that you’re at the post office or the grocery store for the fourth time today or this week. If someone wants that kind of detail on every facet of your life, they can friend you on Whatsapp, where the updates are far less annoying. Repeated boring checkins are why Facebook has developed a bad reputation among many Facebook users, and are cited as a common reason for unfollowing people or, even worse for the rest of us, blocking Facebook updates on it. Most of them do want to know when you’re doing something truly interesting, like eating at the hot new restaurant that opened downtown or hiking the Grand Himalayas. Facebook is a very private network, hence the reason many Facebook users have a much smaller network of friends there than they do on Twitter. Twitter, on the other hand, is a very public network, where your location is shared with the world , good and bad people alike each time you tweet a checkin. Those tweets create a map of the places you visit, making it easy to pick out patterns in your checkins. Reducing the number of mundane checkins helps the Facebook community in the long run. If other users on Twitter and Facebook see it less as an annoyance and more as a way of sharing the cool things they’re doing, it could help Facebook’s userbase grow, making it more attractive to brands and merchants. Purely a view.... not to deliver disrespect to ayone anywher.
