J&K Grameen Bank holds a sensitization programme on SHG’s in Kupwara Kupwara, March 08: J&K Grameen Bank organized a sensitization programme on Women Self Help Groups (WSHGs) on the occasion of International Women’s Day in Town Hall Kupwara. The programme was held in collaboration with NABARD. The officers of NABARD and Grameen Bank on this occasion threw light on the significance of formation of SHG’s. It was stressed upon that various activities that could lead to income generation of these lower income groups should be put in action. He emphasized that Kupwara was the only district in Kashmir region where government of India has sanctioned a WSHG programme under NABARD assistance. On the occasion, senior manager JKGB, area manager also spoke on the occasion and urged upon the newly appointed business correspondents to work effectively. They informed that JKGB had formed 36 SHGs till date and 15 more groups were formed today. On this occasion, few SHGs were felicitated for their performance and income generation activities. The programme was attended by various line departments, NGOs and the bank officials.
