JESUS SPENT HIS TIME WITH THE POOR Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him? But you have insulted the poor. James 2:5,6 Dear brothers and sisters in Christ: How often we set ourselves on a quest to better our situation, and to become more acceptable in the eyes of the world. We just cant take it, and would have a better position, more money, stability, standing, and a strong position from which to live our life. Yet Christ calls us, as He always has, to follow Him in loving and spending time with the poor. That means those around us who are not regarded as wonderful, talented, or rich in the things of this world. Because Christ did not come to save the rich, but every man or woman or child who needs Him. We are not above our Master, the Lord Jesus. He spent His time with the poor, and loved them. He loves the rich also, but as when He walked among us in His physical body, the rich were the ones who degraded Him, ignored Him, questioned Him, and opposed Him. They were of position, and power, and stability, and money and standing. They regarded Christ as low, and of no significance. So the rich, as James says in the next few verses, often exploit us, drag us into court, harass us, slander our names, and the Name above all Names, and oppose us in our walks with Christ. We must resist the devils temptation to be rich, and to fall into his trap. We are instructed clearly not to chase any kind of riches in this world. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the lust of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Timothy 6:8-10 Are you in agreement with this? Id like to hear from many of you, as this is something that is leading many astray in our modern world, and is a trap set cleverly by our enemy.
