JHU leader Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobitha Thera, in his capacity as the founder of Sri Bodhiraja Foundation, has donated 100 cows to low income families in the Jaffna peninsula. Addressing the recipients at Mutaveli grounds, Jaffna Ven. Sobitha Thera on Thursday (Nov 6) said that the donation was meant to promote relationship between the northerners and southerners. The monk said that his foundation had saved the poor animals from slaughter. The Thera urged the beneficiaries to treat the cows as members of their families. He said every religion had stressed that humans to be compassionate. Commander Security Force Jaffna Maj. Gen. Udaya Perera thanked the thera for supporting the ongoing efforts to uplift living standards of the Jaffna people.
