... JIBWIS EXPRESSES SURPRISE OVER ARREST. A renowned Islamic scholar and a trustee of the Jama’atul Izalatul Bidia Waikamatussunah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Alhassan Said, has expressed surprise at the allegation that Sheikh Muhammad Nazeef Yunus has something to do with the Boko Haram sect. Sheikh Alhassan told Daily Trust yesterday that relatives, students, neighbours and colleagues of Yunus could not believe the alleged involvement of the cleric with the sect. “Sheikh Muhammad Nazif is in the forefront in preaching against Boko Haram ideology in Jos,” he said. “I and Nazeez have organised several sensitisation lectures against the sect in Jos and Bukuru. We have been living with Nazeef for over 15 years and we have never seen any sign or act that could suggest any association with Boko Haram.” Said added: “No one has ever witnessed him preach violence. He has nothing to do with Boko Haram. To us, we believe strongly that Sheikh Nazeef is not a member of Boko Haram”. He appealed for his release. “We are calling on all the security agencies in the country to fear the Almighty God in discharging their duties according to the laws of the land and not incriminate Sheikh Nazif or any innocent citizen.” -DAILY TRUST
