JOB ADVERTISEMENT DUHAMIC-ADRI is a local NGO and its mission is to support integrated development through rural population initiatives in their fight for self-development. Since 2010 DUHAMIC-ADRI is partnering with Global Communities (Former CHF International) to implement USAID funded program known as USAID Higa Ubeho in the district of Rulindo in Northern Province, Muhanga and Ruhango in Southern Province. In this context, DUHAMIC - ADRI is seeking to recruit 2 highly motivated and hardworking persons to work as Economic Strengthening and Food Security Officers. The recruited persons will work closely with USAID Higa Ubeho economic strengthening and food Security team in Rwanda with a task of bringing economic change and improve quality of life of vulnerable communities in Rulindo and Muhanga districts. Job title: Economic Strengthening and Food Security officer Duration: 5 months (with possibility of renewal) Essential responsibilities • Sensitise and promote saving culture among community members to contribute to payments of household needs including health services and nutrition needs; • Conduct business trainings in areas of marketing and financial management literacy to abahizi’s ISLGs (Integrated Saving and Lending groups) and youth ISLGs; • Collaborate closely with the ISLG members in the implementation of identified business activities • Organize the training of Farmer Field School leaders on the Farmer Field School approach and on bio-intensive agriculture techniques including: water and soil conservation, composting, pests and disease control, kitchen garden establishment, etc.; • Share new technologies on fortified seed varieties and other seeds of high nutritional value among abahizi; • Ensure the adoption of bio-intensive agricultural techniques at household level, cooperative level for household production of crops with high nutritional value • Prepare and submit regular reports to DUHAMIC-ADRI Qualifications and requirements • University Degree (A0) in agriculture with specialization in crop production or agribusiness or A1 level in area of specialization with 3 years working experience in the field of economic strengthening and food security; • Have at least two years experience in working with vulnerable groups, HIV/AIDS affected associations and cooperatives; • Familiarity with bio-intensive agriculture techniques, ISGLs and farmer Field schools preferably; • Have computer literacy basically in Microsoft Office and Excel; • Have been working in USAID funded projects is an asset • Be able to drive a motorcycle • Be available and ready to live in the district of intervention How to apply Motivated candidates who meet the requirements can submit applications to DUHAMIC- ADRI Executive Secretary, P.O.Box 1080 KIGALI. Job title: Nutrition support officer Duration: 5 months (with possibility of renewal) Essential responsibilities • Work closely with local health authorities, agronomists, economist strengthening officers, cooperative representatives and group volunteers to identify Abahizi for nutritional follow up and food security support under Higa Ubeho • Form Positive Deviance Hearth (FARN) groups and train the leaders of these groups in nutrition education, food transformation and hygiene. • Collaborate with local authorities responsible for health and local religious leaders on the promotion of health, nutrition and food security. • Coordinate all activities aimed at behavior change in matters of health and nutrition through education fairs, hygiene practices, cooking demonstrations and promotion of primary health care in accordance with the Positive Deviance approach. • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
