The successful candidate will be well-sourced and well-versed when it comes to stories and issues that affect the Latino community — understanding that there is more to it than immigration, though it is hugely important — and be energized about owning an exciting beat that would see them covering stories originating in Los Angeles, California and the greater Southwest. You must be comfortable juggling multiple breaking news stories a day, as well as working on deeply reported enterprise pieces. We are looking for a generalist who can write about a variety of news, from entertainment to politics, and wants to tell these stories because theyre not being told in mainstream media and understand that these are ultimately American stories — and its about time the media treated them that way.
