JOB OPPORTUNITY SMITH/Associates’ is searching for a qualified candidate to support the Army as a Public Affairs Officer/Public Outreach Support in Ft. Polk, LA. The Public Affairs Specialist will be responsible for providing general and public information to support Ft. Polk/JRTC G-3 during the purchase phase of the Ft. Polk Land Purchase program. REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Public Affairs, Communications, Marketing or related field required. • 3+ years of Marketing, Public Affairs, and/or Communications professional experience required. • Public Affairs experience regarding land acquisition preferred. • Army Public Affairs background preferred. • Ability to interact with clients in a professional manner. • Experienced writer and editor. • Strong verbal communication skills. • Ability to produce communication and informational materials utilizing Army Public Affairs guidance along with following Local, State, and Federal regulations. • Must be enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and a problem-solver. • Graphics, layout, and web design skills is preferred but not required. • Ability to successfully obtain security clearance as needed. JOB DESCRIPTION • Develops Public Affairs taskings and initiatives with G3 leadership. • Provides strategic communication guidance regarding smaller in-holdings, private land owners and other sensitive, complex, and/or contentious communication efforts. • Provides resources to facilitate public communication. • Develops procedures and guidance for stakeholder contact and communication. • Develops and supports strategic communications planning. Communication planning will involve: o Producing themes, messages, and associated communication products. o Conducting audience identification and analysis. o Determining and building execution tactics, techniques, and procedures. o Establishing goals and milestones for communications execution. o Conducting communications training for G3 and other Ft. Polk Land Purchase Program spokespeople prior to execution. o Updating plans/efforts as needed throughout the lifecycle of the task order • Develops updated talking points and key messaging for Army leadership. • Communicates news and information about the Ft. Polk Land Purchase Program and provides continued public information and communication support between the multiple stakeholders supporting the acquisition of property. • Researches issues or questions brought to light by inquiries from various sources including members of the public, news media, elected officials and others, and prepares appropriate responses that are ready for final coordination prior to release of the responses. • Measures the effectiveness of communications initiatives. • Provides in-house photography using digital cameras as required. • Researches, develops, writes, edits and distributes press releases, news stories, fact sheets, brochures, biographies, and other materials for general, trade, and professional media using journalistic style and following the Associated Press Style Guide, as appropriate.
