JOB TITLE: Operations Supervisor MD Logistics provides contract warehousing, inventory management, fulfillment, distribution, packaging, transportation, and global freight forwarding. We serve a variety of industries from routine freight management to highly specialized life-saving medicines. This position supervises and coordinates activities of workers and performs any combination of the following tasks to receive, efficiently store and distribute products for multiple clients. Must develop SOP’s when required, manage, and maintain a regulatory compliant environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned. Manage the appropriate staffing for efficient operations and adjust workload and labor resources to match workflow throughout the day. Must have a thorough understanding of all business processes and be able to train others in all aspects of processes, policies and procedures. Monitor work execution to assure that only authorized and trained processes are being used and that equipment is being used properly. Schedule transportation appointments with various carriers, trucking companies and Freight Forwarders for pick up/ delivery times as well as receipt of client’s returns and inbound warehoused freight. Review and assign shipping orders, picking documents or stock allocations to determine items to be processed and distributed. Assemble orders or allocations from stock and place same on pallets or conveys to packing station for further breakdown and distribution. Unpack and examine incoming shipments, identify damaged items and record shortages by verifying information against bills of lading, invoices or other records. Advises of discrepancies, records the amount of items received, and provides weights and measures for new items received into inventory. Audit the accuracy of each order shipped regarding proper product packaging, correct labeling and accurately staged for loading. Perform activities to monitor and maintain inventory control of materials, which include monthly and as needed physical inventory counts. Ensure appropriate precautions are taken to protect warehouse contents against loss. Ensure that departmental goals and objectives are consistently met within budgeted costs Create an environment consistent with a continuous improvement culture. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Advanced degree preferred. 5+ years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, good organizational and time management skills. Forklift certification or the ability to be certified is required. Systems and WMS experience required.
