JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Mountain States is offering free CNA (certified nursing assistant) classes to the public in Tennessee, with the next class set for Jan. 19-Feb. To register or for more information, click here. Mountain States is looking to hire more CNAs, and this training opportunity could lead to job opportunities for those who complete the course. While Mountain States has regularly offered these classes without charging a registration fee, there has always been a cost for books and testing for the state exam. Now Mountain States is covering that cost in Tennessee. The program will present the basics of bedside patient care under the guidelines of federal and state requirements. Participants who successfully complete the course will meet criteria to sit for the state certification examination. The Tennessee course includes 60 hours of classroom participation followed by 40 hours of clinical experience. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent, complete the MSHA Pre-Course On-Line Assessment, complete a criminal/health-related board background check, and do a medical screening. The class is offered by Mountain States Organizational Development. Clinical sessions conducted from Jan. 31-Feb. 23. March 9-April 20, 2015: Classroom sessions from 4-9pm Monday-Friday at the Market Street Centre in the Blue Ridge Room. Clinical sessions conducted from March 28-April 19. April 27-June 1, 2015: Classroom sessions from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Market Street Centre in the Blue Ridge Room. Clinical sessions conducted from May 9-May 31. June 8-July 13, 2015: Classroom sessions from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the Market Street Centre in the Blue Ridge Room. Clinical sessions conducted from June 24-July 12. Aug. 3-Sept. 21, 2015: Classroom sessions from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the Market Street Centre in the Blue Ridge Room. Clinical sessions conducted Aug. 28-Sept. 20. Oct. 12-Nov. 23, 2015: Classroom sessions from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the Market Street Centre in the Blue Ridge Room.
