JOIN JAMIE HANSON TODAY AT 4:30 pm - BE IN THE FLOW (1/2) Jamie, a life-long athlete, found yoga while living in Guatemala. As a marathon runner her body continued to tighten and stiffen. After battling many injuries yoga soon became a regular practice and brought a new freedom to Jamies body. Many of the aches and pains started to alleviate and to her surprise she became much stronger. But, the freedom yoga brought was not only in the body. It allowed Jamie space to slow down her overly active mind and lifestyle. Yoga completely transformed the way that she related to others and most importantly how she related to herself. After feeling all of these benefits in her own life Jamie knew she needed to share yoga with others. Jamie became a registered yoga teacher in 2009 and since then has studied with many different teachers including Seane Corn, Hala Khouri, and Julian Walker. She considers herself a life-long student and craves learning in all areas of her life. She is a leader for Off the Mat, Into the World and is passionate about bridging yoga and social activism in her community and abroad. Jamie’s first career was working with survivors of domestic violence and she later became a high school teacher. Her background as an athlete as well as in social service work and teaching led Jamie on a journey to establish a style that is both therapeutic and challenging. She believes that yoga is an integrative practice involving a mind-body connection. Yoga helps people become more aware of the sensations in their physical body and how those may be related to the emotions sitting deep within their cells. Jamie sees yoga as a profound transformational practice that opens not only the body, but the mind, the heart, and the spirit.
