JOURNAL OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND LAW REVIEW Special Issue: Revolutionary Criminology: A Special Invitation The Journal of Criminal Justice and Law Review is pleased to invite paper submissions for a special issue to be edited by Jason M. Williams and Nishaun T. Battle. The theme for this special issue is Revolutionary Criminology. This issue seeks to provide a space for critical, revolutionary thought in Criminology that is informed by non-traditional, theoretical thought, including but not limited to Critical Race, Marxist Criminology, Historical Criminology, Queer Studies, and a range of Critical Feminist theoretical perspectives. This special issue can best be described as a “Criminology for the oppressed”, acknowledging the State as the central foci for constructing socioeconomic and penal oppression. This issue places specific emphasis on historical and contemporary resistance efforts by communities most impacted by policies and the administration of justice. Submissions are welcomed from scholars from all academic disciplines. The goal and aim of this issue is to promote critical consciousness by providing insightful revolutionary thought and practical solutions that will advance social justice efforts. This involves investigating a broad range of topics including radical ethnography studies, art and activism, radical social movements, social media and social justice, grassroots organizing, community building, Critical Prison studies, and topics that adopt a socio-historical approach to understanding crime, and punishment. Paper submissions employing innovative and sophisticated methodological approaches are highly encouraged. Abstracts no longer than 150 words should be submitted to the guest editors no later than February 15, 2015. Accepted abstracts of authors will be notified no later than March 15, 2015 and papers will be due July 1, 2015. Authors should submit one complete manuscript copy and one blinded copy (containing no information that might identify the author or authors). Each copy must be formatted in Microsoft Word. Each of the files should contain both the author contact’s last name, clear identification of which manuscript copy the file contains, and the date of submission. Therefore, the complete manuscript copy should be saved as “AUTHORSNAME/Complete Manuscript/Date of Submission” and the blinded manuscript should be saved as “AUTHORSNAME/blinded manuscript/Date of Submission”. The peer review process typically takes between 6 - 8 weeks. All manuscripts should be submitted in English, typed double-spaced, and should not be in excess of 30 pages, inclusive of the narrative, tables, references, appendices, and figures. The 30-page limit will be a subjective determination, and can/will be waived dependent upon individualized circumstances. Margins should be one inch on all sides. The manuscript should be accompanied by an abstract not to exceed 150 words, a title page, and a biographical information page (all provided in separate documents). The title page should include (a) the article title, all in capital letters, not exceeding 30 words (b) the names of all authors including their academic ranks or position titles, organizational or academic affiliations, and the full mailing address of all authors, telephone numbers, fax numbers, and email addresses for all authors. Further, do not include authors’ names on any other portion of the manuscript. Non-legal manuscripts should follow the APA format (6th Edition) for headings and subheadings, citations, notes, and references. Legal manuscript footnotes should be double-spaced and numbered serially. All legal footnotes and citations to authority within this journal must conform to Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation, 18th Edition, distributed by the Harvard Law Review Association, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Please direct questions and submissions to either one of the guest editors: Jason M. Williams: [email protected] or Nishaun T. Battle: [email protected].
