JOY OF GIVING LIGHT IN UTTARAKHAND India celebrates the JOY - TopicsExpress

JOY OF GIVING LIGHT IN UTTARAKHAND India celebrates the JOY OF GIVING week from 2nd to 8th October. There was extensive damage to infrastructure in the floods of Uttarakhand. Many villages in the affected districts are without electricity. It will probably take several months, perhaps years to restore the supply . In the mean time, people live in darkness. Children cannot study in the evening. BOSCONET is making a pilot distribution of 100 solar lamps to as many families. Children may use it for their study. As it is portable, it will also meet other family needs. Our light will bring them joy. The giving brings joy to us, and even more so to the children of Paschim Banga who donated the money for this. After careful study, we have chosen a model that is produced in Uttarakhand itself. In this way, we are also providing employment to the people of the state. The transport charge is negligible. There is a good network of service centres for any maintenance that may be required. The fact that the producers and the users are neighbours also raises the chances of the products being of better quality and better serviced. A lamp costs Rs 1000/-, including transport. Sponsor a lamp and bring light to Uttarakhand’s children.
