JUICING IN THAILAND. No Im not talking about steroids, Im talking about freshly made juice! The juicing movement has really taken off in recent years, due in no small part to the excellent film - Fat, sick and nearly dead (watch it free here youtube/watch?v=3mS0YA465ts) Although I would argue a little bit with the science behind it I agree 100% with the theory that if you just get out of your own way (by ingesting chemicals your body simply cant handle) that your body knows exactly what it is doing to fix itself. I have personally juiced for 2 periods of a week at a time and although it isnt the easiest thing in the world it definitely leaves you feeling cleaned out and refreshed. Proper masticating juicers can be quite expensive (I have seen them around 15,000 Baht) but run of the mill home juicers will set you back between 1 and 2,000 Baht and will last for years. It is well recommended that you use Organic produce wherever possible. As cheap and abundant as Thailand is for fresh grown produce unfortunately their record of using safe pesticides (I would argue that none of them are safe but thats a different story) leaves a lot to be desired. Some excellent sources of Organic produce in Thailand are Bangkok Farmers Market, CSA Munching Box by Raitong Organics Farm and Lemon Farm stores. There is also generally a pretty decent selection at Villa Markets. Anyone not in Bangkok have any recommendations or recipes?
