JUL 22 11:30 AM 1944 GREENSBORO N.C. (FROM): Sgt. George Mac Carrigan Branch 1 - Section I ORD. Greensboro N.C. (TO): Mrs. George Mac Carrigan c/o John Gallichio 2703 Mildred Ave. Chicago, Ill. July 21, 1944 Dearest baby:- How’s the best little wife in the world today? I hope you’re fine darling + that this place where you are staying will turn out all right for you. It sounds awfully much like a home, gosh I hope it’s not darling. I also hope with all my heart that your roommate is a swell gal. That would be nice for you. Baby, has your check come yet? I hope so, I hate for you to have to borrow. Darling, in answer to your question “What have we in store for us” I don’t know either. But if I could just have you in my arms again + this was all over then we would both know the answer. Heaven darling, with all our little difficulties only lending spice to it. Listen darling, I assure you the baby I had in mine was 18 or 20months old + not years. Besides if I did pour my love out on it, I would imagine it was you. So there, you jealous married gal. Oh baby, I love you. Darling, when I urge you to have fun you must know what I mean. I just don’t want you to worry + try + meet some nice people. I know it’s hard because I worry about you constantly. But try darling. About your brother Gene, if he’s going to the same kind of place I’m at they can do almost any thing to him for being two days late. If he is such a swell guy + he’s got that attitude now I suggest that you write him regularly + try to keep his spirits up. Because baby, these places are plain hell, physically + mostly mentally + he’ll need all the contact with that other life he can get. Darling something else is on my mind + I’m going to suggest something. Please don’t get mad at me because I know how you feel. In one letter you told me about your sisters + different things they said. Well baby, love them always, as you will anyway; but don’t let them ruin your life. I’m sorry if talked out of turn darling. It’s just that I want you to do what you want to do without thinking you owe anyone anything. Do you know what I mean baby? It’s funny darling, but I feel the same as you; the more I meet people + talk to them the less I think of them. I’m sure the bracelet Mother sent you was nice + that your presents to them were lovely. Thanks baby for being so considerate. After I send this letter I’ll send John a card + my best. I’ll repeat darling. Mother said she sent you a check, haven’t you got it yet? Gee, I hope so darling. I only wish I could send some money, but I just don’t have any darling. Well baby, I must close now as we have to stand retreat to-night. Baby, I love you with all my heart. Good-night darling Love + Kisses Mac XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
